In association with The Singapore Music Teachers’ Association (SMTA), the Yong Siew Conservatory of Music (YSTCM) is pleased to present the continuation of the successful “TEACHING MATTERS" Course, conducted by renowned pianist and pedagogue, Professor Thomas Hecht, Head of Piano Studies at the Conservatory.

Phase Two will offer a new approach to teacher-training. The specialised pedagogical topics introduced in his first series of lectures will now be integrated into his teaching of beginning and intermediate level students in master class settings, whereby participating teachers will have the opportunity to work silently on taught concepts (using individual keyboards) while the class is in progress. A review at the end of each lesson will provide an opportunity for teachers to clarify any remaining concerns as they engage with Professor Hecht in further teaching demonstrations.

Registrations

Interested piano teachers who wish to supplement and enrich their studio teaching with "hands-on” classes should apply now on a first-come-first serve basis for 12 places only.

Application closes on 14th Feb 2015 or when places get filled.

Sessions will be held in the Conservatory’s Keyboard Lab, where each participant will be provided with a Yamaha Clavinova.
